Tina S – 2026 Recipient

Tina 1

Tina is 58 years old and married to her husband Scott. In 2024, after many months of medical tests, Tina was diagnosed with ALS.  A year later, in 2025, she was forced to retire from her job at Ross Local Schools, where she worked in the school cafeteria for 25 years.  This was devastating for Tina, not only since she loved seeing the children in the school cafeteria every day, but also financially, since she and her  husband Scott now rely solely on one income, and are fighting to receive Social Security and disability retirement for Tina.

Since 2025, her husband Scott has been her full-time caregiver. Scott, a supervisor at Rumpke, exhausted all of his sick and personal time that he had accumulated to take care of Tina. In late 2025, Rumpke allowed Scott to work remotely so that he could continue to be Tina’s full-time caregiver while still working. This allowed Scott to continue to be employed and receive much-needed health benefits.

Tina has lived in Ross Township all her life. She is well loved by the community, especially the children. She didn’t just work in the cafeteria; she touched the lives of generations of students. Although she no longer handles the lunch trays, her presence is felt everywhere in the community and continues to be the heart of Ross Township, proving that a little kindness offered in a school cafeteria can echo for a lifetime.

The money raised by the golf outing will help Tina pay off their continuing medical bills.  In addition to this, it will also help them get a handicapped accessible vehicle since Tina is wheelchair bound. This will allow her to have the freedom to leave her house and do the things she loves to do.
