Melinda is 43 years old and is married to her husband Jason. They have 3 children ages 7, 3 and 1. Melinda and Jason grew up on the West Side of Cincinnati, met at Oak Hills High School and now live on the working farm she grew up on. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in January of 2026 just 7 months after returning to work following her maternity leave. Melinda works full time as an Environmental Educator for a small non-profit agency. Her diagnosis has been difficult, but Melinda has every confidence she will make a full recovery. They are lucky enough to be financially secure with health insurance coverage through her employer. Because of the length and extent of her treatment, there will be significant medical bills, and she will have to take off a lot of work in the coming year which will have an impact on their finances, especially so soon after taking an extended partially paid maternity leave. Her current treatment plan is 6 months of weekly chemotherapy infusions followed by surgery, radiation treatment and possibly more chemotherapy depending on tumor response. Total treatment time is estimated to be one year. This fund will help the family cover the gap in her lost wages and ensure they have a financial cushion for what comes.
We are a nonprofit public charity with 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status.
